The Department of Economics is one of the prominent departments of the college, committed to imparting a deep understanding of economic theories, policies, and their practical applications. The department strives to nurture analytical thinking, quantitative skills, and a sense of social responsibility among students while helping them understand the dynamics of the modern economy.
The curriculum covers a wide range of topics such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economy, Development Economics, Public Finance, International Trade, Econometrics, and Environmental Economics. It equips students with both theoretical insights and empirical tools to analyse economic issues at regional, national, and global levels.
The department encourages active learning through seminars, group discussions, surveys, project work, and field studies. Students are motivated to understand current economic trends, government policies, and social challenges, preparing them for higher education and professional careers in economics, business, and public administration.
Kautilya club is framed by the department of Economics. The club organizes a series of Special Lectures, Workshops, Socio-Economic Survey, Events and Programmes to encourage students to actively take part in Industrial visits. The Club serves as a unique platform for students to engage in Debates, Special Lecture in the Future Direction of India's Development. Recently the Department has taken the students for Sessions held at Vidhanasaudha. It proactively looks in to the impact of current and emerging economic policies and critically analyzing their effectiveness.
