Industrial Field Trip to Department of Chemistry, KAPMC
The field trip was organized by the department of Chemistry and Zoology of B.Sc. of Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial College, Shivamogga. Students were excited to experience different memories. 9 students and 4 lecturers has started journey from Shivamogga at 6.30am. The first memorable spot was Bheemeshwara Temple at 10.30. It was a wonderful place where waterfalls and temple is in the same place, then Jeep trucking was an exhilarating adventure.
Next, we went to Vatjat Pharma Foods Pvt, Ltd, Kumta at 1.30pm. The chemistry lab showcased various experiments and equipment, also knew about the manufacturing of chemicals such as sucrose, potassium chloride, etc.,.
Vatjat Pharma Foods Pvt, Ltd. Established in the year 2006. The nature of business is manufacturer, supplier and exporter. The company is known for its advanced techniques for manufacturing chemicals and adherence to environmental standards.
They manufacture chemicals like KCl, NaCl, CaCl2, citric acid, sucrose, Ammonium chloride etc.
These chemicals are used around the world for preservation, water treatment, medicine, food, pesticides.
1. Overview of production processes :
To manufacture the chemicals they use some process like Dilution, filtration, centrifugation , Testing and packing . The first three steps are done in the manufacturing unit while later in a well equipped laboratory.
2. Equipment :
In manufacturing unit they use several equipment like reactor for dissolving and filtering impurities, centrifugation , chiflng sewer drying equipment, weighing machine. In this laboratory, there are several equipment used to test the purity of the chemicals like Spectrophotometer, colorimeter, sifting sewer, pH meter, potentiometer, desiccator, hot air oven, muffle furnace and incubator.
After that, we went to Gokarna in the evening to beach stay. It was a great experience to play with salty water with a foster waves which made us cool down from warm. Next day morning, we went to Honnavar to the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Karwar. After that, we made a specimen collection in Tagore beach, Karwar. Lastly, we ended our last memory in the Honnavar boating and reached starting point in the night 11.45pm. The memories of this tour will stay in my heart forever.
